Grande Prairie businesses set the bar for a safer night out

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Best Bar None (BBN) Grande Prairie program, 10 local hospitality establishments gained accreditation for their continued efforts to demonstrate responsible liquor service and patron safety.

Four establishments won awards in the following categories:

  • Bar: Diamond’s Gentlemen’s Club
  • Campus Bar: Howlers Lounge – Northwestern Polytechnic
  • Casino: Great Northern Casino
  • Restaurant and Bar: Boston Pizza Lounge – Westgate Drive

Already operating in 180 accredited establishments in Grande Prairie, Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge and Banff, the BBN program aims to reduce alcohol-related harms by:

  • encouraging businesses to adopt best practices related to customer safety and responsible service of alcohol;
  • giving businesses the tools to be better prepared for any violent incidents; and
  • building positive relationships between industry, enforcement agencies, governments and community.
