Edmonton’s best bars honoured

A “who’s who” of Edmonton’s hospitality industry joined BBN partners for the 9th Annual Best Bar None Accreditation and Awards Event on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the Radisson Edmonton South, home of the seven-time BBN accredited Lion’s Head Pub.

A new record number of 82 bars in 11 different categories were recognized for prioritizing staff and patron safety, responsible liquor service, compliance to regulations and being a good neighbour.

60 of the 82 bars have been accredited in the past and 22 are brand-new to the program.

As well, the first eight bars from communities surrounding Edmonton also earned accreditation at this year’s event. The brand-new Greater Edmonton Area Bars category featured businesses from St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove and Leduc, joining their peers in Edmonton to achieve BBN accreditation.

Dignitaries from AGLC, the City of Edmonton, Edmonton Police Service and Edmonton Fire Rescue Services presented bar operators with their latest accreditation plaques, as well as trophies for the bars who distinguished themselves in each category.

Unlike the People’s Choice Awards, which were chosen via online voting by over 2,500 Edmontonians, the trophy-winning bars are selected by the Best Bar None Steering Committee, which includes representatives from each of the program partners.

The Committee uses information collected from the bars’ assessment visits, as well as data collected from police, fire, health and AGLC.

Congratulations to all 82 accredited bars, including these 11 trophy winners:
